UBP Group Deputy Chairman and MP Dr. Ahmet Savaşan emphasized the need for increased cooperation among TURKPA member countries to reduce the negative effects of climate change on health at the TURKPA Heads of Health Commissions Meeting.

National Unity Party (UBP) Group Deputy Chairperson and MP Dr. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, At the Meeting of the Heads of Health Committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) held at the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ali Ali pointed out the need to increase cooperation among TURKPA member countries in order to mitigate climate change, one of the biggest threats facing humanity, and its negative effects on health.

Emphasizing that climate change is not only an environmental problem but also a global crisis that threatens public health, Savaşan stated that impacts such as heat waves, natural disasters, air pollution, food security risks and the spread of infectious diseases threaten all segments of societies.

Stating that education and campaigns should be organized to raise awareness of the people, Savaşan said that special budgets should be allocated and necessary resources should be provided to combat climate change. Savaşan also emphasized the importance of implementing joint initiatives that will increase the sharing of information and resources in the Turkic world.
