Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan emphasized that the TRNC is rapidly coming to the forefront in health tourism at the EMITT Fair. Stating that the importance of health tourism has increased after the pandemic, Savaşan said that the TRNC aims for regional leadership with its strategic location and advanced infrastructure.

 

President of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council, MP Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, Savaşan Savaşan, who participated in the “The Road to Positive Tourism with Destination Leaders” session organized within the scope of the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair (EMITT), drew attention to the importance of health tourism. Speaking at the fair where 579 companies and 666 VIP tour operators from 80 countries took part, Savaşan emphasized that TRNC is rapidly progressing towards becoming a prominent center in health tourism.

“THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTH TOURISM HAS INCREASED AFTER THE PANDEMIC...”

Savaşan stated that the pandemic has caused radical changes in the tourism sector and that health, safety and hygiene issues have become a priority. Pointing out that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has managed to be one of the rare countries in the world that managed the pandemic best and managed to protect the health of its people with a mortality rate of 6.8 (per ten thousand), Savaşan said that this success has also increased the attractiveness of Northern Cyprus in health tourism.

“KKTC'S STRENGTH IN HEALTH TOURISM...”

Touching on the health tourism potential of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in his speech, Savaşan stated that the country has become an important destination with its strategic location, climate, as well as its developed touristic and health infrastructure. Savaşan said that Northern Cyprus, with its climate with more than 300 days of sunshine, natural and historical riches, and hospitable people, offers health tourists the opportunity to have a unique holiday while offering options to protect and improve health and restore health (treatment).

“HEALTH PROTECTION AND PROMOTION AS WELL AS HEALTH RESTORATION SERVICES ARE PROVIDED...”

Stating that detox and healthy nutrition programs, yoga and meditation camps, fitness and stress management programs are successfully implemented in Northern Cyprus within the scope of health protection and promotion (Wellness and Healthy Living), Savaşan explained that high quality, cost-effective and no waiting list health services are provided in areas such as (medical) physical therapy, rehabilitation, reproductive medicine (IVF treatments), plastic surgery, dental, cardiology, oncology.

“DIGITALIZATION AND GLOBAL PROMOTION STRATEGIES...”

Pointing out the importance of digitalization in the development of health tourism, Savaşan said that the Cyprus Health Tourism Council uses technological innovations such as artificial intelligence-supported guidance systems and also increases the number of health tourists coming to the country day by day by conducting digital advertising campaigns, social media and influencer marketing for European, Middle Eastern and African countries.

“INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS AND COOPERATION”

Stating that accreditation studies and health insurance agreements have been made and transportation supports have been provided in order to make health tourism in the TRNC competitive in the international arena, Savaşan also emphasized that cooperation between universities, touristic facilities and hospitals has been increased and expert personnel have been trained.

“KKTC'S GOAL IS TO BECOME A REGIONAL LEADER...”

At the end of his speech, Savaşan stated that the TRNC aims to become one of the regional leaders in health tourism. Unal Üstel and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoglu’Savaşan stated that strategic investments continue with the support of the TRNC and that sustainable strategies are being created in cooperation with the state, private sector and academic circles. Stating that a “Master Plan” study is underway for a more systematic management of health tourism, Savaşan said that intensive efforts are being made to make the TRNC an international brand in this field.
