National Unity Party (UBP) Group Deputy Chairperson and MP Dr. Dr.\u00a0Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span><\/a>, At the Meeting of the Heads of Health Committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) held at the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ali Ali pointed out the need to increase cooperation among TURKPA member countries in order to mitigate climate change, one of the biggest threats facing humanity, and its negative effects on health.<\/p>\n

\u201cCLIMATE CHANGE IS CAUSING A GLOBAL HEALTH CRISIS\u201d<\/strong>
\nEmphasizing that climate change is not only an environmental problem but also a global crisis that threatens public health, Sava\u015fan stated that impacts such as heat waves, natural disasters, air pollution, food security risks and the spread of infectious diseases threaten all segments of societies.<\/p>\n

Stating that especially disadvantaged groups are more severely affected by these impacts, Sava\u015fan said that increasing carbon emissions and forest fires\u00a0Respiration<\/span>\u00a0He emphasized that droughts and floods threaten agricultural production and lead to malnutrition, while climate migrations and natural disasters cause serious mental health problems in communities.<\/p>\n

LEGISLATIVE ROLE AND RECOMMENDATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that legislative bodies play a vital role in combating this crisis, Sava\u015fan presented proposals to strengthen cooperation among TURKPA member countries. Stating that regulations should be made to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and renewable energy sources should be encouraged, Sava\u015fan drew attention to the importance of preparing hospitals and health workers against health risks due to climate change.<\/p>\n

Stating that education and campaigns should be organized to raise awareness of the people, Sava\u015fan said that special budgets should be allocated and necessary resources should be provided to combat climate change. Sava\u015fan also emphasized the importance of implementing joint initiatives that will increase the sharing of information and resources in the Turkic world.<\/p>\n

\u201cSWIFT AND EFFECTIVE STEPS MUST BE TAKEN FOR A HEALTHY FUTURE\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

This meeting, organized under the umbrella of TURKPA, once again demonstrated the commitment of the Turkic world in combating climate change and protecting public health.
