Filiz Besim<\/span>\u2019shared information about the second meeting of the Heads of Health Commissions of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) held in Baku, Azerbaijan.<\/p>\nNoting that they represented the country at the meeting held on January 21, Sava\u015fan stated that \u201cClimate Change and Health: The Role and Intervention of the Legislature\u201d was discussed at the meeting.<\/p>\n
In his speech at the meeting, Sava\u015fan noted that he drew attention to the risks of climate change and called for cooperation. Sava\u015fan stated that he also conveyed what needs to be done in the fight against climate change and gave examples of these.<\/p>\n
Stating that the importance of the work to be carried out and the measures to be taken by the legislative bodies of the countries in this context were also emphasized at the meeting, Sava\u015fan listed the steps to be taken, such as raising awareness in society, sharing information and resources.<\/p>\n
Deputy Sava\u015fan stated that integrating environmental policies with health policies is the most important step that can be taken in this sense and that the Parliament has a great responsibility.<\/p>\n
Sava\u015fan also shared the developments that the work for the establishment of a climate change branch is being accelerated, that an article of the protocol to be signed with the Turkish Ministry of Urbanization in the coming days will be about climate change and that a special committee will be established to include all ministries and stakeholders.<\/p>\n
