Health Tourism Council President Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sava\u015fan, in his message published on the occasion of World Tourism Day, pointed out that the theme chosen in 2018 was \u201cdigital transformation in tourism\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He emphasized that digitalization has changed the expectations of tourists and it is an inevitable necessity for the tourism industry to adapt to this.<\/p>\n

\u201cTHE BIGGER THE POTENTIAL POPULATION, THE BIGGER ONE SHOULD THINK...\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe bigger the potential mass, the bigger one needs to think,\u201d said Sava\u015fan, adding that \u201cdigital transformation is an important issue that should be at the focus of every country that wants to be ready for the future. We will see that countries that cannot make digital transformation will not find an effective place neither in tourism nor in other economic areas in the near future.\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cTODAY'S TOURISTS INTERACT AT EVERY STAGE...\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that phone applications, social media, virtual reality, 360-degree videos are preparing the end of traditional travel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sava\u015fan underlined that today's tourists interact at every stage of their travels.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe journey from the US to Kazakhstan takes only two minutes...\u201d<\/p>\n

Stating that Kazakhstan, the largest country in Central Asia, has made an online game where tourists can explore 100 sacred places in the country to interact digitally through game applications, Sava\u015fan said that the journey from the USA to Kazakhstan was reduced to two minutes.<\/p>\n

\u201cFROM PRISTINE BEACHES TO A DISASTER ZONE...\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that virtual reality is a technology that changes our daily lives and that it has found an important place in the tourism industry, Sava\u015fan said: \u201cNowadays, you can take a virtual tour in Chernobyl, where a nuclear disaster occurred in the 1980s, or you can watch pristine beaches and blue skies like those in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n

Emphasizing that what needs to be done in Northern Cyprus is to realize digital transformation in tourism without waiting for traditional methods to self-destruct, the President of the Council Assist.
