The delegation of the National Unity Party (UBP), which visited the Turkish Cypriot Federation of Disabled People, announced that all activities of the UBP Youth Branches in 2019 will be carried out with the main theme of \u201ccreating a country without barriers\u201d and that a certain part of the revenues will be allocated for the House of Life without Barriers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the statement made by UBP; Deputy Secretary General Assist. Assoc.\u00a0Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/a>\u2019s speech during the visit, it was reported that the National Unity Party adopted the duties given to states in the United Nations' World Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities and said that it was ready to support the necessary arrangements in the TRNC.<\/p>\n

In his speech, Sava\u015fan said, \u201cOur youth will take the initiative to take the necessary steps on issues such as the accessible cities agreement, universal design, integrated non-formal education, inclusive digital accessibility, accessible tourism, as stated in the UN action plan to ensure the fair and effective participation of our disabled people in social life under the leadership of the youth in our party.\u201d.<\/p>\n

We will work much more effectively with Civil Society Organizations...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emphasizing that in the TRNC, the necessary by-laws should be put in place as soon as possible in order to fulfill all the obligations of the universal \u2018United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities\u201c, UBP Deputy Secretary General Sava\u015fan said, \u201dWe will work much more effectively with other non-governmental organizations operating in this field, especially the Turkish Cypriot Disabled Persons Federation, to ensure that individuals with special needs who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or perceptual impairments that constitute an obstacle to their full and effective participation in society under equal conditions with other individuals; We will work much more effectively with the Turkish Cypriot Federation of Persons with Disabilities and other non-governmental organizations operating in this field to ensure that they can fully enjoy their human rights and fundamental freedoms without allowing any discrimination based on disability.\".<\/p>\n

Special Education Law must be passed...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that they fully support the passage of the Special Education Law and the establishment of a department to serve individuals with special needs\u00a0Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/a>, Sava\u015fan underlined that it is the duty of the government and the relevant minister to produce permanent solutions to all other problems, especially the employment problems of individuals with special needs. At the end of his speech, Sava\u015fan also called for the acceleration of the works for the completion of the Barrier-Free Living House, which is an essential need for the TRNC, as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
