UBP Deputy Secretary General Ahmet Sava\u015fan stated in a television program that there is a very rapid change in every field, that in order for political parties to develop, they need to anticipate the changes and the consequences that will arise from them, and to make the best use of the opportunities and threats that will arise, and that the UBP, acting with this awareness, will organize a workshop with a wide participation in order to create its new strategic plan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cUnderlining that \u201dduring the strategic planning process, which will start on Saturday, February 23rd and last for six days, the necessary ways, strategies to be implemented, resources to be used and points to be considered will be determined in order for the UBP to achieve its goals more effectively,\u201c Sava\u015fan underlined that \u201dour aim is to determine our long-term goals and vision with the active participation of elected and appointed officials who have served in the UBP in the past, as well as the executives and party members who serve today.\".<\/p>\n

TECHNICAL COMMITTEES ARE WORKING...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that the UBP has been in power for many years and that it has put its signature under almost all major projects, Sava\u015fan said that the UBP has provided countless services to the people of the country in all areas of life from the past to the present and that technical committees are working in this new period in order to complete what has been left incomplete for any reason in the past and to take the steps that could not be taken.<\/p>\n

THE NEEDS OF THE FUTURE WILL BE MET WITH CONTEMPORARY APPROACHES...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emphasizing that unity and solidarity prevailed in the party after the last congress, and that a great effort was made to respond to the needs of the future with contemporary approaches while respecting the past, Sava\u015fan said that the formation of the current government through various games and the Presidential intervention, contrary to the will shaped in the elections, motivated and strengthened the UBP to be a proactive opposition.<\/p>\n

UBP READY FOR A POSSIBLE EARLY ELECTION...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that it is seen that the promises and the actions of the current government do not coincide, Ahmet Sava\u015fan emphasized that the people want to see the UBP in power, but this is an issue that can only be evaluated if the conditions are met. Stating that the UBP is making an effective opposition with its President, Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General and all MPs, District Presidents, FMC and PM members as well as all other officials, Sava\u015fan underlined that the UBP is ready for a possible early election.<\/p>\n

THE GOVERNMENT'S POSITION WEAKENS THE POSITION OF THE TURKISH CYPRIOT PEOPLE...<\/strong><\/p>\n

UBP Deputy Secretary General Ahmet Sava\u015fan, who also made evaluations on Cyprus, pointed out that the government's lack of a unified policy on Cyprus weakens the position of the Turkish Cypriot People both domestically and internationally.<\/p>\n

THERE IS A BIG CONFUSION ON CYPRUS...<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Minister of Foreign Affairs, who has expressed both at home and abroad that the Greek Cypriot side does not want to share the riches and powers, goes to America and presents his own views as if they were the views of the government. In addition, the same minister talks about alternative solution proposals that we know that the two partners of the government do not accept. In the same period of time, President Ak\u0131nc\u0131 is trying to bring the federation to the agenda again with electoral concerns at a time when the Greek Cypriot side has started to talk about a two-state solution, despite the fact that he recently announced that his generation missed the opportunity for a solution and that the Greeks do not want a solution on the basis of federation. In short, there is confusion on such an important issue. We see these developments as a great weakness.\u201d.<\/p>\n

THE WILL THAT ELECTED AKINCI HAS DISAPPEARED...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reminding that the Greeks expressed the two-state solution during the Cyprus visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl\u00fct \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu, Sava\u015fan stated that Turkey's clear stance that alternative solution proposals should be discussed coincides with the UBP's Cyprus policy. Pointing out that when the views of the parties in the parliament are taken into account, the number of deputies in favor of a two-state solution is 35, while those who advocate federation are 15, Sava\u015fan said, \u201cboth from this perspective and when the attitudes of our people after seeing that the Greek Cypriots prevented the solution are evaluated, it is understood that the will that emerged on the day President Ak\u0131nc\u0131 was elected is no longer valid\u201d.<\/p>\n

TWO-STATE SOLUTION MUST BE BOLDLY ARTICULATED...<\/strong><\/p>\n
