Cyprus Health Tourism Council issued a message on World Tourism Day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that tourism accelerates socio-economic and cultural development, increases employment in the side branches of the service sector and throughout the country, contributes greatly to the country's economy by providing foreign currency inflow, Health Tourism Council World Vice President and Cyprus President Dr. Ahmet Sava\u015fan emphasized that the tourism sector also contributes to world peace by developing feelings of peace and friendship among people regardless of religion, language and race.<\/p>\n

Tourism revenues exceeded 1 trillion dollars... <\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that in 1950, the number of people participating in the tourism movement was 25 million and the tourism income was 2.100 billion (2 billion 100 thousand) dollars, and today the number of tourists has exceeded 1 billion and tourism income has exceeded 1 trillion dollars, Ahmet Sava\u015fan pointed out that according to the World Tourism Organization data, the number of international tourists is expected to reach 1 billion 400 million in 2020 and 1 billion 800 million in 2030.<\/p>\n

\u201cTourism and Business: A better future for all\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that World Tourism Day is celebrated with a theme chosen every year, Sava\u015fan underlined that history, culture and natural values come to the fore when looking at the themes used so far. The theme of this year's World Tourism Day is \u201cTourism and Business: A better future for all\u201d, Sava\u015fan pointed out the importance of ensuring equal employment in tourism, social unification, peace and security issues in our country as well as in the world, and taking the necessary steps by carrying out the necessary studies on these issues.<\/p>\n

Increased investment in sustainable work... <\/strong><\/p>\n

Pointing out that the World Tourism Organization (WTO) will implement three action plans depending on the theme chosen this year, Sava\u015fan said that these are increasing investment in people's skills, increasing investment in working institutions and increasing investment in sustainable work.<\/p>\n

WTO's action plan should also be implemented in Northern Cyprus...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Underlining that these actions should be implemented and worked on seriously in Northern Cyprus, Ahmet Sava\u015fan stated that both they and the sector are pleased to see that the government established under the Prime Ministry of Ersin Tatar is determined to make tourism and higher education a sustainable structure as a State Policy. Finally, Sava\u015fan congratulated all tourism sector representatives on World Tourism Day.<\/p>\n
