Cyprus Health Tourism Council President and MP Dr. Ahmet Sava\u015fan, who published a message on the occasion of International Women's Rights Day, stated that there are many steps to be taken in the TRNC in terms of equality of women and men and said, \u201cI wish that such a day is not needed.\u201d.<\/h2>\n

Cyprus Health Tourism Council President and National Unity Party (UBP) MP Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, made a written statement on December 5, International Women's Rights Day.<\/p>\n

Cyprus Health Tourism Council President and Deputy Dr. Dr. Dr. G. K. K., who issued a message on the occasion of the International Women's Rights Day. Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, Pointing out that the woman, who gives life to societies, nations and the man to whom she is constantly compared, is the source of life and the most sacrificial being of nature, he drew attention to the fact that today women are not given what they deserve, on the contrary, it is a great shame for humanity that they are persecuted and subjected to violence.<\/p>\n

Pointing out that both social and emotional differences between men and women in the world and in our country bring about the need to emphasize that women have the right to defend themselves, Sava\u015fan said: \u201cViolations of women's rights start within the family and spread and become socialized. However, discriminating between men and women and treating women as second-class human beings is an outdated practice that is beyond reason and logic. Considering the importance of women in the structure of the family and society, they should have priority in every field beyond equality. Because the child raised by a woman living and working in a healthy and safe environment forms the basis of a peaceful society.\u201d.<\/p>\n

Underlining that women's equal participation in all areas of life is a necessity of the modern world Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, Pointing out that December 5 is an important day of struggle and solidarity in which women all over the world have expressed their desire to live more humanely since the beginning of this century, he pointed out that this day creates an important opportunity to bring women's problems to the agenda, to raise awareness on this issue and to find solutions to the problems experienced.<\/p>\n

\u201cREAL PROGRESS IS THROUGH EQUALITY WITH WOMEN...\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating her belief that women must be empowered for a democratic society Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, She stated that in order to talk about real progress in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; it is essential that our women benefit from equal opportunities and opportunities in all areas of life, from education to health, from the legislative, executive and judiciary to the business world and politics by expanding their working areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWE MUST SINCERELY TAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS FOR EQUALITY...\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Noting that women are in the minority in parliament and in many other places Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, said that despite the legal regulations and positive steps taken, there is still a long way to go in terms of gender equality practices in the TRNC. Pointing out that although issues such as women abuse, violence against women and gender discrimination are addressed in our country, we are still far from the desired point Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, \u201cAlthough women and men are equal before the law in the TRNC, it is not possible to say that our women, who make up half of our population, can take part in all areas of life under equal conditions. What we need is firstly to accept this fact and then to take the necessary steps with sincerity. In this context, being aware that we, the elected, civil society organizations, universities and the society in general have important duties to ensure equality, I believe that the necessary steps will be taken in this period.\u201d.<\/p>\n
