UBP MP and Ad-Hoc Committee Member Dr. Ahmet Sava\u015fan made statements regarding the details of the law proposal prepared by the Ad-Hoc Committee.<\/h2>\n

The Ad-Hoc Committee on the Regulation of Legislation on Natural Disasters and Earthquakes in the Republican Assembly has prepared the Financial Assistance and Preparation for Earthquakes and Other Natural Disasters.<\/p>\n

National Unity Party (UBP) MP and Ad-Hoc Committee Member Dr. Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, made statements about the details of the proposed law.<\/p>\n

The Ad-Hoc Committee on the Regulation of Legislation on Natural Disasters and Earthquakes completed its intensive work throughout the week on Friday evening and prepared the Financial Assistance and Preparation for Earthquakes and Other Natural Disasters.<\/p>\n

Ad-Hoc Committee Member, National Unity Party (UBP) MP Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span> He participated in the program called \u201c17th Hour\u201d broadcast on BRT screens via live connection and made statements regarding the proposed law.<\/p>\n

Stating that they wish to pass the law unanimously Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, \u201cThe law in question has been prepared in order to contribute to meeting the shelter needs arising in Turkey due to the earthquake that occurred in the Republic of Turkey on February 6, 2023, to contribute to meeting the shelter needs arising in Turkey, to determine and eliminate the needs arising in our country and to establish financial resources in order to determine and eliminate the preparations within the scope of combating natural disasters that may arise in the future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

WORK WILL BE CARRIED OUT IN THE FIELDS OF SEARCH AND RESCUE, HEALTH, TEMPORARY MANDATORY SHELTER AND EDUCATION WITHIN THE SCOPE OF COMBATING NATURAL DISASTERS...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, \u201cWith the law we envisage to make, we propose to meet the shelter needs of earthquake victims in Turkey, to contribute to the emergency food, accommodation, health and education expenses of earthquake victims coming to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, to support the citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus who are directly affected by the earthquake, and search and rescue within the scope of combating earthquakes and other natural disasters that may occur in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, We aim to carry out work in the fields of health, temporary compulsory shelter and education and to meet the needs in these areas, as well as to create resources to ensure that local governments contribute to the work to be carried out in these areas.\u201d.<\/p>\n

THE DEMANDS OF OUR PEOPLE, STAKEHOLDERS AND THE OPPOSITION WERE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emphasizing that the sensitivities of the public, opposition parties and stakeholders were taken into consideration while preparing the draft law Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, \u201cThe law, which envisages creating a financial resource of around 1 billion TL, consists of 3 main headings. The first is the savings to be made from the budget, the second is additional contributions, and the third is the cuts envisaged to be made from salaries above the minimum wage on a voluntary basis.\u201d.<\/p>\n

THE FUNDS TO BE CREATED WILL NOT BE USED FOR PURPOSES OTHER THAN THE PURPOSE OF THE LAW...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Noting that the issue of where the financial resources to be created will be spent is determined with a participatory approach and that these items are detailed one by one Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, \u201cThe resource to be created cannot be spent outside the purpose of the law. Expenditure items will be included in the law.\u201d.<\/p>\n

THE LAW ENVISAGES TRANSPARENCY AND OVERSIGHT...<\/strong><\/p>\n

Underlining that the expenditures to be made from the financial resources to be created with the prepared law will be audited by the Earthquake and Natural Disaster Evaluation and Supervision Commission established within the same law whether they are made in accordance with the purpose or not Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, \u201cThe commission, which is envisaged to include stakeholders as well as political party representatives, will ensure that all expenditures are made in accordance with their purpose and that these expenditures are audited,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

NO DEDUCTIONS BELOW MINIMUM WAGE!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stating that the proposed law does not foresee any deductions from social assistance, disability pensions and cemile aids and those who receive salaries below the minimum wage Ahmet Sava\u015fan<\/span>, said that it is planned to make proportional deductions on a voluntary basis from people earning salaries above the minimum wage.<\/p>\n
