Ahmet Sava\u015fan, President of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council, emphasized in a television program that he attended that in order for Health Tourism in the TRNC to achieve a sustainable structure; there is a need for a real cooperation between many Ministries such as Health, Tourism, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Education and Transportation, and said that there is a need for a formation similar to the Health Tourism Coordination Board (SATURK) in Turkey.

Stating that with the rapid growth and diversification in the tourism sector and the importance of the tourism-environment relationship, people are turning towards alternative tourism types such as \u201cEco, Health, Culture, Sports and Faith Tourism\u201d, Sava\u015fan said that Northern Cyprus has great potential in these areas.

\nExplaining that more and more people are traveling outside their own country to improve, protect or restore their health, Sava\u015fan said that the value of this sector worldwide is 439 billion dollars and is estimated to grow by 25 percent in the next 10 years.
\nDetox vacations are in vogue...<\/strong>
\nStating that Medical Tourism is carried out in University Hospitals and private hospitals and clinics, especially IVF in Northern Cyprus, Sava\u015fan pointed out that the detox holiday concept has been in demand in recent years. Sava\u015fan said, \u201cTourists today are looking for vacations where they can detoxify, relax, spend healthy time, exercise, apply purifying diet plans and empty their minds.\u201d.

\nExplaining that the development in information and communication technologies in the last 20 years has affected all areas of life, Sava\u015fan said that thanks to the developments in the pharmaceutical industry, new diagnostic methods and high technology used in treatment, the average life expectancy, which was around 50 in the 1930s, reached 70s in the 2000s, and that this age will reach 100s for people born in the 2050s.
\nWellness is the shining star of health tourism...<\/strong>
\nStating that wellness is the shining star of health tourism, Sava\u015fan said, \u201cThe health tourism activities gathered under this \u201cmagic\u201d word called wellness either spice up a classic holiday or are chosen as packages of a purposeful health holiday. SPAs, the facility type gifted to health tourism by wellness tourism, have shown a tremendous growth-development and have become the center of health tourism.\u201d.
\nInnovative service areas should be defined...<\/strong>
\nStating that innovative areas that will serve health tourism such as advanced life villages, obesity-fighting centers, healthy living zones should be defined and their standards should be determined as soon as possible, Sava\u015fan underlined that the cooperation of public, private sector, non-governmental organizations and universities is important in the development of Health Tourism.

\nStating that it is calculated that the rate of those who will travel for health purposes in the next 10 years will reach 4 percent of the world population, Sava\u015fan said that for this reason, the interest in Health Tourism is increasing day by day.

\nEmphasizing that the change in the world should be analyzed well and tourism types suitable for the new tourist profile should be directed towards, Sava\u015fan stated that \u201cby working more closely with the sector to optimize mass tourism revenues on the one hand and to develop alternative tourism types such as health, culture and sports on the other hand, he expressed his belief that a noticeable growth in the country's economy will be achieved.<\/p>\n
