Tatar shows in practice what he will do at the Presidency

UBP FMC Member Dr. Ahmet Savaşan stated that Prime Minister Tatar has shown with examples how he will use the office of the Presidency during his visit to London and the Closed Maraş meeting.

National Unity Party FMC member Ahmet Savaşan, While answering questions in a television program he attended, Prime Minister and UBP President Ersin Tatar’s “hands-on” demonstration of what he could do if elected President.

Upon being reminded that there are those who consider Prime Minister Tatar's visit to London and the organization of the Closed Maraş meeting as “election investment”, Savaşan said, “Ersin Bey is currently the prime minister. The election bans or propaganda period has not officially started. The Prime Minister has to fulfill his duties. Moreover, these events organized or attended by the Prime Minister are also an indication of what he can do as President. Mr. Tatar has practically shown us all how active, entrepreneurial and proactive politics he will conduct as President.”.

“London is like Tatar's home; of course he will be active...”

Commenting on Prime Minister Tatar's contacts in London, Savaşan said, “As we all know Ersin Tatar, He graduated from Cambridge, one of the most important universities in the world. Like every Turkish Cypriot family, he has relatives in London and they are prominent people in the community. He started his professional life in London and worked for years; he has friends. He has ties with British politicians. It is natural for him to use these for the Turkish Cypriot people. He has shown how he will use them for the benefit of the people with his visit to London.”.

Turks in London will be united...

Emphasizing that Turkish Cypriots should first try to open up to the world through London, Savaşan said, “Turkish Cypriots living in London are our most important power. As long as we know how to make use of them; let us be one with them. The achievements of Mr. Tatar with his humanitarian structure, friendly and hardworking personality are obvious. Using these qualities, Mr. Tatar has started to mobilize the Turkish Cypriot community in London for our national cause and economic development. This is what his visit to London has shown to all of us.”.

He pioneered the opening of closed Maraş.

Reminding that Prime Minister Tatar led the meeting on “Closed Maraş” held in Maraş, UBP Central Executive Board Member Ahmet Savaşan, “I watched the meeting from beginning to end. Our hand is very strong. In international law, there is no rule that Closed Varosha cannot be opened, there is no obstacle. But we still need to act carefully. These were also emphasized at the meeting. President Tatar will lead this work as well, and will ensure that all authorized and concerned parties, including Turkey, act in coordination,” he said.

Stating that the initiatives on Maraş started before the presidential elections, the process is ongoing and will be finalized after the elections, Savaşan said that at the meeting held in Maraş, both Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay and Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gül, as well as the Prime Minister Ersin Tatar’emphasized that they clearly demonstrated that the will for a solution to the Cyprus issue continues both in Turkey and in the TRNC, and pointed out that in addition to this will, they also clearly showed that the period of waiting without doing anything is over.

Savaşan said, “Both patience and goodwill have a time limit. No one has the right to ask the Turkish Cypriots to wait for the Greeks to be convinced for another half century.
