Explaining that the election process was experienced with great difficulties, Ahmet Savaşan reminded that this process also included the difficulties created by the pandemic and the economic difficulties that emerged as a result of the pandemic and said, “The presidential election process has been an unprecedented process in the history of the TRNC.” Commenting on the messages given by Prime Minister Tatar, who won the presidential election, on the election night, Savaşan reminded that Tatar “promised to work to leave behind meaningless tensions” and underlined that it is important that this message was given immediately on the election night.
Explaining that Prime Minister Tatar, who won the election, gave important messages to the world in his first speech after the announcement of the election results, Savaşan underlined that President Tatar's statement immediately after the election that he would sit at a possible settlement table as an upright President who believes in the TRNC, who was elected to the Presidency with the free will of the Turkish Cypriot People and who is sincerely and effectively supported by the Republic of Turkey, is a very meaningful and very clear message to the world.
Ahmet Savaşan reminded that Tatar thanked Turkey on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people for their support to public finance as well as the emergency hospital and other important contributions to health in the person of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and said: “President Ersin Tatar has given the message that our rights in the Eastern Mediterranean will be protected much more effectively by cooperating much more sincerely and much more effectively with Turkey on the road to be walked from now on.”.
Savaşan concluded his assessment by saying, “today we woke up to a new future, the future will be good for both those who voted for Tatar and those who did not.”.
