Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Ahmet Savaşan, In his message on the occasion of the Republic Day on November 15, he emphasized that despite the proclamation of the republic 37 years ago, the TRNC continues on its way with confident steps despite its shortcomings, despite those who ignore this fact and show disbelief in this fact at home and abroad; those who do not protect themselves, their society, their state and their institutions, those who do not work in accordance with them and even those who betray them.
Savaşan pointed out that the continued existence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which was established with the decisive support of Turkey, is much more valuable for a sustainable future at a time when the lack of a common vision of the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides, and even their increasingly diverging visions stand in the middle.
Stating that November 15 is a historical day that shows the world the determination and endurance of the people, their ability and determination to struggle, and their commitment to freedom in order to reach the goal, Savaşan said, “November 15 is not only a matter of loyalty to the cherished memories of our founding fathers and mothers who did not think for a moment to give up themselves for our children to live freely today. This issue is a matter of protecting the republic, which is the symbol of the social will of a people whose vital existence on our beautiful island is attempted, in its struggle for a free future.”.
NEW IDEAS NEEDED ON CYPRUS
Stating that there is a need for new ideas on the Cyprus issue, Savaşan emphasized that it is necessary to get out of the vicious circle formed by saying the same things in Cyprus, talking about the same issues on the same ground and not getting a result.
Savaşan said, “With the new vision of the Presidency and the strong support of the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in front of the world public opinion, we are very happy to see that we have entered a new period in which we can achieve significant gains in terms of strengthening our state and protecting our rights in the Eastern Mediterranean with the Cyprus issue.”.
Stating that the Greek Cypriot leadership is trying to muddy political equality, making statements and proposals contrary to the understanding of sharing, which is the most basic sine qua non of federal partnerships, Savaşan made the following statements in his message:
“It is time and long past time to reveal why a solution, which is demanded by the vast majority of the Turkish Cypriot people, cannot be reached in which the future will be secured by protecting the state, sovereignty and Turkey's effective and de facto guarantee.”
Stating his belief that our hope, knowledge, courage and working power will make the path and place of the Turkish Cypriot people and the state established by the Turkish Cypriot people, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, light and bright Ahmet Savaşan, “We would like to express our gratitude to the mujahideen who created November 15, the resisters, the soldiers of the Security Forces, the members of the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces, our martyrs and their families, our veterans and our Turkey, which is always with us, and we celebrate the Republic Day of our people.”.
