UBP FMC Member Ahmet Savaşan stated that the opposition should also support President Tatar's struggle for equality in the TV program where he evaluated the Cyprus problem.

National Unity Party Central Executive Board Member Ahmet Savaşan evaluated the Cyprus problem in a TV program he attended. Referring to President Tatar's meeting with UN Secretary General Guterres in Brussels, Savaşan emphasized that this meeting, which will take place at Tatar's request, “is a smut sign that the search for sovereign equality can be successful”.

The Turkish Cypriot people are peace-loving...

UBP FMC Member Ahmet Savaşan underlined that the Turkish Cypriot People are all peace-loving, with or without a party, with or without a party, and reminded that the failure to establish a federation until today is due to the attitude of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus. Savaşan underlined that if the UN wants to be successful in Cyprus, it should encourage a new sustainable agreement based on equal sovereignty instead of pursuing processes that are clearly exhausted.

How long will we tolerate being in the freezer?

Reminding that the 3rd President Mustafa Akıncı said that the Greeks said one thing behind closed doors and another to the United Nations, that his generation lost the chance to make a federation, and that the 2nd President Talat said that Southern Cyprus does not even want the Turkish Cypriots to breathe, Ahmet Savaşan said, ’The Turkish Cypriot people are peace-loving people. Look at our children, our youth, look at us. In Northern Cyprus, neither in the education system nor in the field of faith can you find anything worth noting that fosters enmity and antagonism. In the TRNC, cultured, peaceful young people and generations are being raised with intellectual knowledge. However, when we look at our southern neighbors, we see that the situation is exactly the opposite. How long will our people endure being in the freezer due to the attitude of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, or how long will they tolerate this situation? It is time for the realities to be seen and new steps to be taken.’.

The truth is that the Greeks don't want to share anything.

Stating that even though the events of half a century are perceived differently by the eyes of the parties, the reality has not changed, Ahmet Savaşan underlined that the reality is that Southern Cyprus does not want to share with the Turkish Cypriot side neither the Republic, which they have transformed into a Greek state, nor the riches.

We must send a strong message to the world together for a deal...

“Seeing the attitude of Southern Cyprus, do we expect a different result by continuing to do the same things? We have been repeating the same things for fifty years and it is clear that we have gained nothing in terms of federation. We have to do something different now. We have to take different steps,” Ahmet Savaşan said, “We should all meet together on minimum commonalities and give a strong message to the world as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Of course, there will be different opinions within the country. It is of course necessary to respect them. And we do. But if we act in unity by seeing the realities, we can help to make an agreement based on equality between Northern Cyprus and Southern Cyprus. Otherwise, the Cyprus Problem will go on without a solution, just as it has come to these days.’.

The Turkish Republic and TRNC are in favor of a sustainable agreement...

Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that the future will be better than today with the support received from the Republic of Turkey both in domestic issues and in the Cyprus issue by the government established under the Prime Ministry of UBP President Ersan Saner with the election of Ersin Tatar as President and underlined that the TRNC is in favor of a sustainable agreement with Turkey.

Our intentions were announced to the world by Tatar and Saner.

Stating that the Turkish side wants an agreement based on equal sovereignty was announced to the world by President Tatar and Prime Minister Saner, UBP FMC Member Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that if this step is supported by the UN, the island can turn into an island of stability and will also contribute to both the economic transmission and fair sharing of the gas to be extracted around the island.

The opposition must support our demand for equality
