Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, in his message published on the occasion of August 30 Victory Day, pointed out that the War of Independence cannot be considered as an ordinary war and the August 30 victory cannot be considered as an ordinary military success and said, “The victory of August 30 is the result of the Turkish Nation's belief in living independently and the sacrifices made for this”.
Stating that August 30th is one of the turning points of the glorious Turkish history, Ahmet Savaşan underlined that August 30th is the symbol of the faith and will of yesterday, the inspiration of today and the assurance of tomorrow.
Independence requires sacrifice
Reminding that the Turkish Nation went through a long period of 10 years of war, including the First World War, until August 30, 1922, and that this period significantly consumed national resources, Ahmet Savaşan, President of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council, pointed out that in order to grasp the importance of the August 30 victory, it is necessary to understand and evaluate this process well.
Victory is the work of the Turkish nation and its leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk...
Noting that the August 30 victory showed the world that a nation that believed in and was dedicated to living independently could not be consumed despite the lack of resources and wear and tear, Ahmet Savaşan said, “this victory is undoubtedly the work of the Turkish nation and its leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.”.
The Turkish Cypriot people fought a struggle similar to the War of Independence...
Drawing attention to the similarities between the Turkish Cypriot People's struggle for existence and the War of Independence, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan said, “The Turkish Cypriot People fought a similar struggle and gained their independence in this way. Just when it was said that everything was over, the resistance organized with determination brought us to a stage where we governed ourselves. The only difference in our struggle is the unlimited and unconditional support we received from the Republic of Turkey. This support is a sign that we are an integral part of the Turkish nation.”.
Our faith is in the Turkish Cypriot people and our assurance is in the Turkish nation...
Stating that the changing world conditions are delaying the registration of the independence of the Turkish Cypriot People by the international community, Ahmet Savaşan expressed his belief that this stage will definitely be reached thanks to the struggle that is being waged with faith and sacrifice, Ahmet Savaşan said: “On this honorable path, our faith is in the Turkish Cypriot People and our trust is in the support of the Turkish nation. We know this and we are taking firm steps towards the future with this awareness.”.
We remember all its heroes with gratitude...
At the end of his message, Savaşan said, “With these feelings and thoughts, as an inseparable part of the Turkish Nation, we commemorate with gratitude all the heroes of the War of Independence with their martyrs and veterans, especially the founder of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and celebrate the Victory Day.”
