UBP Nicosia MP Ahmet Savaşan underlined that the Turkish Cypriot people left behind another very good test of democracy and said that despite the devastating effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the National Unity Party fulfilled its responsibilities to govern on the one hand and on the other hand, it succeeded in becoming the first party in the local elections. Noting that they will continue to serve the people of the country, Savaşan said, “We will continue to produce services, not words.”.
Nicosia MP of the National Unity Party (UBP) Ahmet Savaşan, evaluated the General Elections for Local Organizational Bodies in a television program he participated in.
Reminding that the government partners, UBP 90, DP 15 and YDP 13, won 118 out of a total of 220 municipal council memberships Ahmet Savaşan, He underlined that the Main Opposition Party CTP was able to get 87 council members, TDP 13 and HP 2.
“THE ALLIANCE RECEIVED 54 PERCENT SUPPORT FROM THE PUBLIC”
Pointing out that a sincere commitment to the alliance made by the government partners was shown at the level of the presidents and party officials of the UBP, DP and YDP, and that the alliance was also embraced by the grassroots to a great extent Ahmet Savaşan, Savaşan underlined that the alliance received nearly 54 percent of the votes in total, which confirms this. Savaşan also pointed out that the candidates supported by the alliance won 8 of the 18 municipalities in total, while the CTP succeeded in 7 municipalities and independents in 3 municipalities.

Prime Minister Unal Üstel’s determination and the will of government ministers and MPs, the 51/95 law, which is the last pillar of the municipalities reform and will ensure the economic sustainability of municipalities in general, will be passed in the coming days.
