Cyprus Health Tourism Council President and Member of Parliament Dr. Ahmet Savaşan published a message on his personal social media account on the occasion of February 4th World Cancer Day and emphasized that “all of us, especially us politicians, should do our part for an effective fight against cancer”.
On February 4, World Cancer Day, the President of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council, Member of Parliament Dr. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, “We should all do our part, especially us politicians, for the effective fight against cancer,” he said, noting that experts have revealed that one-third of cancers worldwide can be prevented and one-third can be treated when diagnosed early.
Ahmet Savaşan’s post is as follows:
“Cancer causes more deaths worldwide than infections such as AIDS and malaria combined. Approximately 10 million people die from cancer annually. This figure is expected to reach 13 million in the 2030s.
However, 1 in 3 cancers can be completely cured with early diagnosis. In another 1 in 3, successful treatment options can be activated. When we add this up, 2 out of 3 cancers can be treated with an effective fight and early diagnosis, as if the person had never had the disease. In this respect, cancer and the fight against cancer are very important.
Let's prevent it, recognize it early, treat it, and leave no one behind. For an effective fight against cancer, all of us, especially us politicians, must do our part and succeed!”
