UBP MP Ahmet Savaşan stated that 46 percent of the 1 billion TL financial resource envisaged in the Financial Assistance and Preparation for Earthquake and Other Natural Disasters Law Proposal will consist of savings, 42 percent of additional tax and 12 percent of voluntary salary cuts.
National Unity Party (UBP) MP Ahmet Savaşan, He stated that 46 percent of the 1 billion TL financial resource envisaged in the Financial Assistance and Preparation for Earthquakes and Other Natural Disasters Law Proposal will consist of savings, 42 percent of additional tax and 12 percent of voluntary salary cuts.
Savaşan, a member of the Ad Hoc and Special Committee on the Regulation of Legislation on Natural Disasters and Earthquakes, noted that the proposed law is planned to be passed by the Republican Assembly on Monday with the amendments envisaged to be made, not as it was sent from the committee.
Making a written statement on the issue, Savaşan shared details about the proposed law on his social media account.

Emphasizing that the resource planned to be created is 1 Billion TL Ahmet Savaşan, The government pointed out that 46 percent of this resource is envisaged to be collected through savings to be made from the budget, 42 percent through additional (tax) contributions (foreigners’ property purchases, car insurances of people other than TRNC citizens who will cross the border gates, casinos, luxury consumption, etc.) and 12 percent through revenues to be obtained from voluntary salary cuts.

“Our Prime Minister together with our Ministers and MPs Unal Üstel’We visited our 6 districts by accompanying our Prime Minister Unal Üstel He informed our party members and local residents about the Law on Financial Assistance and Preparedness for Earthquakes and Other Natural Disasters.
The financial resource consists of 3 items of 504 million TL (approx.) through budget savings, 461 million TL through additional (tax) contributions and 123 million TL through voluntary salary cuts.
The financial resources of around TL 1 billion will be spent only in the areas specified in the law on earthquakes and natural disasters. The expenditures to be made will be monitored by the evaluation and supervision board established by law (the board will include representatives of the state, economic organizations, the Union of Chambers of Turkish Cypriot Architects and Engineers and trade unions). The revenues to be obtained from the deductions to be made from salaries on a voluntary basis will be used for schools and hospitals.”
