The Administrative, Public and Health Affairs Committee of the Assembly of the Republic approved the “Teachers (Amendment) Bill” with a majority of votes and referred it to the General Assembly.
According to the statement made by the Assembly of the Republic, the Administrative, Public and Health Affairs Committee will meet today at 10.00 a.m. UBP MP, Committee Chairman Özdemir Berova Convened under the Chairmanship.
The Committee discussed the “Teachers (Amendment) Bill” on its agenda and approved it with a majority of votes and referred it to the agenda of the General Assembly.
The meeting of the Administrative, Public and Health Affairs Committee convened under the chairmanship of Berova, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, CTP MP Filiz Besim, UBP MP Ahmet Savaşan, CTP MP Devrim Barçın and UBP MP Emrah Yesilirmak participated. Also at the committee meeting, UBP MP Hasan Kucuk, CTP MPs Erkut Şahali, Şifa Çolakoğlu, Product Solyalı and Independent MPs Aysegul Baybars and Jale Refik Rogers also took part.
Minister of National Education at the committee meeting Nazim Cavusoglu were also present.
Officials from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of National Education, the Personnel Department, KTÖS, KTOEÖS and the Turkish Cypriot Union of Educators also attended the committee meeting as invited guests and shared their views on the issue.
The Cyprus Turkish Teachers“ Union (KTÖS) and the Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers” Union (KTOEÖS) protested today on the grounds that "Atatürk Teachers' Academy and teachers' rights are targeted by the draft law".
