Prime Minister Ünal Üstel came together with citizens in Gönyeli. Speaking during the visits, Üstel said, “Whatever promises we made when we came to the government, we are realizing them one by one. We have come to a good point with the steps we have taken, but it is not enough... Our people and our state deserve a much better future. National Unity Party (UBP) President and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel met with citizens in Gönyeli. UBP Secretary General Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, Nicosia District President and MP Ahmet Savaşan, Minister of Economy and Energy Olgun Amcaoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, Gönyeli-Alayköy Mayor Hüseyin Amcaoğlu, MPs Ziya Öztürkler and Alişan Şan and party members accompanied Üstel who was welcomed with great interest.

At the beginning of his speech, Üstel referred to the last local elections and said, “They said Gönyeli could not be overthrown. We overthrew it with Hüseyin Amcaoğlu” and stated that they are sure that Hüseyin Amcaoğlu will leave unforgettable services to Gönyeli.

Üstel emphasized that the local government reform, which they implemented with persistence and determination, was an important achievement for all municipalities.

Emphasizing that they will continue to take similar steps, update the infrastructure of the state, strengthen its economy and financial structure, and carry out the projects and legal works that the people need with determination, Üstel said, “Whatever promises we made when we came to the government, we are realizing them one by one. “OUR PRIORITY IS OUR YOUTH”

Üstel gave the following information about the projects carried out and to be carried out:

“We will pave the way for green energy with the interconnected system in energy. With the new Ercan Airport, we have achieved modern aviation norms and started to reap the fruits. With the new Ercan Airport, we opened our doors to the world. Now we are starting our struggle for the end of embargoes in transportation by using all our power through the law. While taking new steps on the Cyprus issue, we will move forward with determination towards opening up to the world. With the aim of developing the TRNC, bringing it to world standards, making its industrialists, tourists and producers strong, we have said from day one that our priority is our people. Despite the economic problems, global crisis and economic contraction, we will continue to take all kinds of important measures. We will keep the purchasing power of our people alive.

We are preparing for 2024 to be a better year. We have updated the salaries of the victims of the 47/2010 Law. We are increasing the cost of living allowance to 3 times a year. We will continue to give rural land to young people. The social housing project will start soon. We continue to give my first home loans to our young people. We will announce a new loan package for young people shortly. Our priority is our young people and their prosperous life in this land.

We have mobilized all means to ensure the road safety of our people. We have largely solved the expropriation costs on the Gönyeli - Nicosia Ring Road, which has been waiting since 2013. We will start construction in 2024.”

In addition to these, Üstel said that they have introduced 4.5 G technology to the country and announced that next year they will hold a tender to lay fiber optic cable to every home.

Üstel stated that they started to reach the digital island target step by step.

“WE WILL PLAN OUR FUTURE”

Emphasizing that the DPO continues to work on the 5-year development plan, Üstel stated that technical meetings are ongoing against unplanned construction, that the zoning plan for the whole country will be legalized instead of the order orders, and that the national physical plan will be updated.

“We are determined to do all these for our people, our future and our children. We will continue to spend the savings in the earthquake fund for our schools for the safety of our children. We read the criticisms and take them into consideration. We will plan our future against those who try to defame our actions and who do not trust this state. We will do whatever is necessary for the benefit of our people with determination.”.

“PUBLIC SUPPORT FOR OUR NEW CYPRUS POLICY IS GROWING”

Pointing out that they expect new developments in relations with Azerbaijan in the coming days, Üstel said, “The light is on. This light illuminates our path,” he said.

Referring to the presidential election to be held in 2025, Üstel said, “The presidential election is very important. This election will be between those who advocate federation and those who advocate a solution based on sovereign equality. Today, 71 percent of our people want a solution based on sovereign equality. 29 percent say federation. Our new Cyprus policy is supported by our people. God willing, we will win this election with your support.’.

“OUR CONCERN IS OUR STATE, THE HAPPINESS AND WELFARE OF OUR PEOPLE”

Üstel said, “Our concern is the TRNC. Our concern is that this flag flies stronger in the skies. Our people should live in happiness and prosperity. For this, we are working in consultation with Motherland Turkey. With the support of our motherland, we are embracing the TRNC with the world step by step. UBP established this state... We will do whatever it takes for it to survive, to be stronger on the way to meet the world”, he concluded his words.
