Ahmet Savaşan, the director of Near East Tourism and Travel Enterprises, which serves within the Near East University (NEU), recently participated in the “Economic Cooperation Forum” held between the businessmen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Azerbaijan in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Ahmet Savaşan, Director of Near East Tourism and Travel Enterprises, stated that they participated in the trip to Azerbaijan at the invitation of the President of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan-Turkey Businessmen's Union and that a crowded media army followed the trip.
Savaşan stated that the visit to Azerbaijan was a very meaningful and historical event, as it was the first direct flight to a country other than Turkey, the signing of mutual cooperation protocols between businessmen and non-governmental organizations in the economic sense, and the fact that it was made despite all the pressures and threats to break the unjust embargoes imposed on the TRNC.
Savaşan said, “There is a decision to get rid of the isolation of the TRNC in the Organization of the Islamic Conference, this movement initiated by our brother Azerbaijan, from which we come from the same root, to break the embargoes imposed on our state and to strengthen us economically, will set an example to other Turkic states and the world, and this will turn into a great synergy in the coming days,” and said that protocols were signed in five different subjects, including Tourism, Azerbaijan Hotel Management, Construction, Banking, Agriculture in Azerbaijan.
Savaşan said that they, as Near East Tourism Travel Enterprises, have been in contact with important tour operators and tourism representatives operating in Azerbaijan on what can be done in the fields of education, congress and special interest tourism and that they believe that cooperation in both tourism and other fields will begin in the coming days.
Savaşan also stated that Azerbaijan has abolished the visa application to TRNC and that a foundation with a representative mission will be opened in TRNC in the coming days.
Finally, Ahmet Savaşan stated that Azerbaijan will have a large economy in the next twenty years and emphasized that Azerbaijan's cooperation with our country has a great meaning.
