“Health tourism activities increased”

Near East University participated in the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair (EMITT), one of the five largest tourism fairs in the world, and took important steps in the field of “Health Tourism”.

It was stated that NEU, which participated in EMITT, which brought together four thousand five hundred participants from nearly seventy countries, with authorized associations and tourism professionals under the umbrella of the TRNC Ministry of Tourism, made important contacts in order to bring more tourist patients to Northern Cyprus within the scope of Health Tourism.

In the statement, it was emphasized that Ahmet Savaşan, General Manager of Near East Tourism Enterprises and NEU Hospital Board Member Ahmet Savaşan, who met with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Mahir Ünal, Honorary President of the World Health Tourism Council Emin Çakmak, President of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies Foreign Relations and President of the Federation of Hoteliers, as well as many country representatives, made promising contacts for the development of mutual cooperation between Turkey, Middle East and European countries and Northern Cyprus in the fields of tourism in general and health tourism in particular.

Ahmet Savaşan said that 2016 could be a year of significant developments in the field of Health Tourism in Northern Cyprus with the connections established at the EMITT fair as a fruit of the work they have been carrying out for years.

Savaşan said:

“The contacts we have made, the quality health services offered by NEU Hospital and private hospitals and clinics, high technology and affordable price advantages, as well as the product we have created with our touristic richness, show that our country can be a year in which our country will gain momentum in Health Tourism in 2016. The state's encouraging and supervisory role is very important here. In order for our country's tourism to reach the desired level and to increase domestic added value, it is of vital importance to bring alternative tourism types, especially Health Tourism, to our country and to develop these areas.”

Lastly, Emin Çakmak, Honorary President of the World Health Tourism Council, who visited the NEU Hospital stand, which attracted great attention within the scope of the fair, stated that Dr. Suat İ. Günsel has a decisive role in the acceptance and success of the TRNC in the world in many fields, especially in education.

“With the initiatives and leadership of Suat Hoca, Northern Cyprus has started to show itself in the world health tourism sector. We have given the necessary support for the development of this field in our Cyprus until today and we will give it from now on. Northern Cyprus has the potential to get a share from Health Tourism with its touristic and other advantages. I believe that if the state does its part, we can become an important destination in this field.”
