THY will carry passengers from 25 countries to Northern Cyprus
In accordance with the protocol signed between Turkish Airlines (THY), the 20th member of Staralliance, one of the world's giant aircraft companies, and the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, THY will carry passengers to TRNC from 25 points with package tours and special prices.
For this purpose, a seminar was held yesterday at the Near East University (NEU) Library for travel agencies, tour operators and sector representatives.
The seminar, which started at 14.00 at the NEU Library hall, was attended by TRNC Ministry of Economy and Tourism Promotion and Marketing Department Director Derviş Gezer, THY TRNC Director Mustafa Uğurlu, Cyprus Turkish Travel Agencies Association (KITSAB) President Özbek Dedekorkut, Hoteliers Association President Mehmet Dolmacı, travel agencies and tour operators.
Speaking at the meeting, Ahmet Savaşan, President of NEU Tourism Research and Development Center, said that the days when THY will undertake a great mission in transportation, which is the most important factor for the development of tourism in TRNC, have begun.
THY will make a great contribution to TRNC tourism
KITSAB President Özbek Dedekorkut also stated that THY's contribution to tourism is great for the further development of TRNC tourism and that a turning point has been experienced today.
Pointing out that sea and air transportation is mandatory due to the fact that TRNC is an island country, Dedekorkut said that as a sector, air transportation has been neglected and they have been moving with the wind, but they have made progress with the work done by the Ministry of Tourism in the last year.
Dedekorkut noted that they hope that the TRNC tourism will further revive with the charter agreements and thanked THY, which has a special and respected place in the aviation sector in the world, and thanked THY officials, especially THY's TRNC Director Mustafa Uğurlu, for highlighting the needs of the TRNC.
Explaining that they have THY prices, Dedekorkut said that their aim is to carry the passengers landing in Istanbul to our country with a waiting time of 1-2 hours, but according to the agreement, if the occupancy of the planes can be ensured, THY can carry the passengers to our island by making noon flights.
We criticized what was done in the past, now we thank what has been done
Mehmet Dolmacı, President of the Hoteliers Association, said that for years they have been waiting for politicians to do something and for sector representatives to follow them, and for this reason tourism has not reached the desired level.
Explaining that this is a great opening for them, Dolmacı stated that tourism has started to revive with the push of the sector representatives to the politicians, that no one should take credit for this, and that the success belongs only to the sector.
Stating that with this initiative, everyone will go further than where they are, Dolmacı said that they have criticized what has been done so far, but this time they thank what has been done.
Tourism's breathing tubes are pulsating
Derviş Gezer, Director of the Promotion and Marketing Department of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, said that the aim is to attract THY, which flies to more than a hundred destinations around the world and has the youngest fleet in the world, to the TRNC tourism sector.
Gezer said that THY, which brings passengers from the Middle East, Europe and Russia to Istanbul, plans to bring these passengers to the TRNC and added that they will sign another agreement with travel agencies and operators in the future.
Gezer said that they are delighted that the tourism breathing tubes are increasing with Germany, the UK and new destinations.
We will contribute to TRNC tourism
THY TRNC Director Mustafa Uğurlu said that they will bring tourists to the TRNC from the countries and according to the prices determined as a result of the dialogues made by the TRNC Ministry of Tourism with THY in order to develop tourism.
Uğurlu stated that THY is not only a commercial organization but will also contribute to the TRNC tourism and for this purpose, a fee schedule was drawn up as a result of the meetings held with the Ministry of Tourism.
After the speeches, THY officials made a presentation and the seminar ended with a cocktail.
