Following the call made by the Ministry of Health and the Thalassaemia Association to meet the need for blood in the TRNC, Near East University Hospital launched a campaign called “Blood Donation Life Donation”.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, it was stated that a campaign titled “Blood Donation Life Donation” was organized by Minister of Health Ahmet Gülle and President of the Thalassaemia Association Ahmet Varoğlu at the Parliament and that a campaign was launched at the NEU Hospital Blood Bank under the name of "Blood Donation Life Donation" in order to help meet the blood needs of all patients in general and thalassaemia in particular, and that the collected blood will be delivered to the State Hospital Blood Bank.

Member of the Board of Directors of NEU Hospital Ahmet Savaşan‘s speech during the blood donation drew attention to the fact that blood is not an emergency but a constant need. In his speech, Savaşan said that blood is a tissue that cannot be produced and underlined that the only source of blood is still healthy donors. In the statement, Savaşan said that blood donation is very important both socially and personally and that many people lose their lives every year because they cannot find blood as a result of an accident or illness. “However, blood donation not only saves the lives of many people waiting for blood, but also positively affects the health of the donor,” Savaşan said. Savaşan also pointed out that giving blood relaxes people psychologically and makes them feel peaceful.
NEU Hospital is ready to help the development of voluntary blood donation in TRNC
Lastly, Savaşan stated that NEU Hospital is ready to cooperate with the Ministry of Health in order to create awareness of Voluntary Blood Donation in the TRNC and to carry out the necessary work for its development.
