Underlining that disabled individuals with long-term physical, mental, intellectual or perceptual impairments that constitute an obstacle to their full and effective participation in society under equal conditions with other individuals; underlining that they should be able to fully benefit from human rights and fundamental freedoms without allowing any discrimination based on disability, Ahmet Savaşan said, “It is a necessity of modern state understanding that our disabled people can take an active part in economic, social and cultural life.”.

In his message, Savaşan also pointed out the importance of fulfilling all the obligations of this universal convention for people with disabilities, even though the TRNC is not recognized by the United Nations and has not signed the Universal ‘United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities'.
The responsibility, including employment, lies with politicians...
In line with the universal ‘United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities’, information, education and training to provide all necessary practices to eliminate all forms of discrimination, exclusion or restriction based on disability in the full exercise or enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, civil or any other field under equal conditions with others, Ahmet Savaşan stated that politicians have great responsibilities for a state structure in which health, transportation, habilitation and rehabilitation, employment, social protection, funding systems, social policies and laws are in place and implemented, and said that “the new government to be formed will have a great responsibility to produce permanent solutions to all other problems, especially the employment problems of our disabled people.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
