The Cyprus Health Tourism Council was represented at ITB Berlin, the world's largest fair, which was attended by a total of 160 thousand people, including 109 thousand professionals from more than 180 countries on 5 continents.

According to the statement made by the Council, President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan attended the fair, which was opened by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, together with TRNC Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu and sector representatives, and had the opportunity to meet with many country representatives, tourism professionals and press members, especially Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Numan Kurtulmuş and Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Tourism is an important force in the development of intercultural dialog.

Stating that more than 1.2 billion people travel across borders every year, Ahmet Savaşan said that tourism is an important force for intercultural dialogue, peace, reconciliation and sustainable development. Stating that the number of travelers is estimated to reach 1.8 billion in 2030, Savaşan said that in our age, people do not see travel as a luxury, on the contrary, they consider it necessary to protect their health.

Stating that 56 percent of the fair participants were from Europe, 21 percent from Asia, 11 percent from America and 10 percent from Asia, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan underlined that 35 percent of the visitors showed interest in culture, 33 percent in adventure, and 12 percent in health and life tourism.

Time for artificial intelligence in the travel industry of the future...

Stating that ITB Berlin, which is an undisputed brand worldwide, creates a giant forum for global issues such as global tourism, revolutionary travel patterns, as well as global issues such as health tourism, luxury travel, technology and sustainability, President Savaşan added that they also participated in meetings held at the fair where technological developments and artificial intelligence in the future travel sector were discussed.

Explaining that the world is gradually disappearing and that it is now accepted that care should be taken in everything from production to vacation, Savaşan stated that this has aroused great interest in everything slow and ecological in the world, including travel. Pointing out that ‘slow travel’, ‘slow city’, ‘slow food’ and ‘eco travel’ enthusiasts are growing like an avalanche, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan said, “Germany is of great importance for our country. Every year, both the number of tourists brought from Germany and the revenues generated are increasing. We made the best use of this important platform with our ministry, tour operators, council and other sector representatives and signed many new agreements. We are returning from Germany with our hands full.”.
