- At the General Assembly of the Global Healthcare Travel Council (Global Healthcare Travel Council), which took place with the participation of 47 delegates from 38 countries, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan was elected as the World Vice President on behalf of the TRNC. He also managed to get positive votes from Greece.
- Explaining that TRNC was accepted to the World Council as the 54th member country and served as a member of the board of directors in the World Council in 2017, Savaşan said that Northern Cyprus is represented with its flag under equal conditions with 57 countries in the World Health Tourism Council.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet and have a long conversation with my friend Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, the President of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council. In my opinion, Savaşan is a young and enlightened person who has serious studies in the field of Health Tourism and works to provide serious services to the people of the country both socially and politically.
Ahmet Savaşan, who participated in the general parliamentary elections a while ago and although he could not enter the parliament due to the saints of the new electoral system, although he received 48,171 votes (and I would like to remind you that Prime Minister Erhurman was elected with 37,776 votes, Serdar Denktaş with 13,557, Kudret Özersay with 31,280, Cemal Özyiğit with 15,180 and Erhan Arıklı with 10,398 votes), he has proven that he has great potential in this field.
“I WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE WHETHER I AM ELECTED OR NOT...”
You will recall that before the elections, Savaşan announced that “whether I am elected or not, I will continue to struggle and serve in the way of serving my country”. As far as we can see, he is doing so. Not only in the political field, he has been working non-stop in the fields of tourism, education and health for years and serving the people of the country.
It is clear that Savaşan has been working hard in the last decade to develop health tourism in Turkey and increase the added value of the country. But before moving on to him, we talked about his efforts to prevent cancer, which is one of the most important wounds bleeding in our country, and to raise awareness of early diagnosis.
Savaşan explained that cancer is an increasing health problem worldwide and causes a significant socio-economic burden on societies and financial and moral losses and difficulties for individuals, and emphasized that the fact that a significant portion of cancer is preventable increases the importance given to this issue.
Savaşan explained that the council developed the self-check application in order to increase the level of awareness and consciousness about cancer and to help people get rid of the mistakes they know to be true, and that it was presented to all women in our country through the Cancer Patients' Aid Association.
“1 IN 3 CASES OF BREAST CANCER IN CKTC’
Stating that around 700 new cancer cases are detected annually in Northern Cyprus and 1 in 3 of these cases is breast cancer, Ahmet Savaşan underlined that 1.4 million people in the world and 250-300 people in our country are diagnosed with breast cancer annually.
“DOWNLOAD ”SELFCHECK” FOR FREE..."
Explaining that thanks to the “selfcheck” mobile application, which can be downloaded free of charge from Google Play or Apple Store, women can keep a record of their monthly breast examinations and consult a doctor by noticing changes early, Savaşan said that the application, which offers a professional follow-up system, also reminds the user of the most accurate examination times. Stating that thanks to the application, many mistakes known to be true will not be made by our women, Savaşan called on all women to download this application.
“CANCER REPORTING OBLIGATION LAW MUST BE PASSED”
Explaining that last weekend, together with the council officials, they walked in the event hosted by the Cancer Patients“ Aid Association and attended by the Minister of Health and many charitable people on the theme of ”enacting the law on the obligation to report cancer", Savaşan also emphasized the importance of creating a cancer map together with the law on the obligation to report cancer.
Let's come to the main theme of our article. Recently, as Northern Cyprus, tourism representatives participated in the World health, sports and alternative tourism congress fair, which was held under the auspices of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for the second time this year in Antalya under the chairmanship of TRNC Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu. More than 5 thousand purchasing delegations from 165 countries took part in the international organization. We also had the opportunity to promote our country's products in the field of health and sports and also to make new agreements.
But in this giant organization that took place in Antalya and that Turkey attaches great importance to, we achieved a very important success that made us proud as TRNC.

I asked Savaşan what this success meant and how it was achieved.
