Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, issued a press release on the occasion of the August 1st Social Resistance Day.

Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, In his message published on the occasion of the August 1 Social Resistance Day, he emphasized that the fighting spirit that created the legend of the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT) in the past should continue its struggle for the protection of Turkish sovereignty in Cyprus in accordance with the time and ground, using all kinds of political, economic and cultural instruments.

Underlining that these days have been achieved through great struggles, Dr. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, “If the Turkish Community lives in Cyprus in safety today, we owe this to the honorable struggle of our ancestors, the Turkish Resistance Organization and Turkey”.

The UN must give up its so-called equal footing.

Savaşan pointed out that although the negotiations continued from the day the negotiations started until the Crans Montana summit in order to form a bi-zonal, bi-communal federal state where sovereignty would originate equally from the two communities, where two equal constituent states would exist and they would not be able to dominate each other, it collapsed due to the uncompromising attitude of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus and the failed attitude of the UN, “Although Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot side have contributed positively and done their part for a solution, as President Akıncı stated, the UN and the whole world should now see and accept that the Greek Cypriot side has not taken any steps even on confidence-building measures and that the negotiation process has collapsed not because the parameters are bad, but because the Greek Cypriots oppose the solution.”.

No one has the right to ask us to wait another 50 years...

Emphasizing that the understanding that considers one of the two sides in Cyprus as the sole legal owner of the whole of Cyprus and excludes and isolates the other community serves not for a solution but for the continuation of the status quo, Savaşan stated that no one has the right to expect the fifty-year negotiation process to continue in the same framework, open-ended, inconclusive and without a timetable.

We should not postpone everything until after the solution...

Stating that instead of remaining inactive in a situation that constantly waits for a solution, lessons should be learned from what happened Ahmet Savaşan, “Instead of postponing everything until after the solution, we should work with a realistic understanding, produce and do our part to create a new order in which our state can stand on its feet and our people will be happy,” he said.

Our state must be developed internally and externally...

Underlining that a realistic effort should be made to strengthen the state both internally and externally, Dr. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, “We commemorate with mercy and respect our Social Struggle Leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük and our Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş, the nameless heroes of our TMT who served fearlessly with great sacrifices and quietly passed away, greet the living TMT members with our sincerest love and respect, express our gratitude to the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces, Security Forces and Police Organization, which are the guarantee of our peaceful and safe life with our families and loved ones in our homeland, and celebrate the Social Resistance Day.”.
