Ahmet Savaşan, In his post on the 135th anniversary of “Saded”, the first Turkish newspaper published by the Turkish Cypriots on July 11, he emphasized that he is proud that the Turkish Cypriot Press has always successfully fulfilled its duty of enlightening the society as the “Common Voice of the Nation”.
Ahmet Savaşan’s message is as follows:
“Today, as we celebrate Press Day, I think about how much journalism has changed since Saded, the first newspaper in Turkish Cypriot history. With the impact of technology, news is now available 24 hours a day, uninterrupted and easily accessible from anywhere. It is proud to see that the press has always successfully fulfilled its duty of enlightening the society as the “Common Voice of the Nation”. I underline that a free and independent press is very important for democracy. I find it vitally important that all necessary regulations and measures are taken and implemented to ensure that members of the press can continue their work freely. I know that members of the press work selflessly under difficult conditions. I respect their labor and dedication. With the awareness that freedom of the press is the guarantee of democracy and social progress, on this meaningful day, I congratulate the members of the press in our country on Press Day and thank everyone who works to keep our people well informed.”
