Savaşan drew attention to the devastating effects of the earthquake by saying, “February 6, 2023... An unforgettable night, an indescribable pain... Two years have passed since this great disaster in which we lost thousands of lives, but the void left by our losses has never been filled.”.
Stating that he remembers all the people who lost their lives in the earthquake with mercy, Savaşan expressed that the loss of the children from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, known as the Champion Angels Team, their teachers and parents caused deep sorrow. “They will live forever not only in the field of sports but also in our hearts,” Savaşan said, emphasizing that this pain will not be forgotten.
Pointing out the importance of building more resilient cities and being prepared for disasters by learning lessons from such disasters, Savaşan underlined the need to strengthen solidarity and unity.
At the end of his message, Savaşan said, “We remember all the lives we lost on February 6 with respect, love and mercy. We will never forget you”.
