Ahmet Savaşan Drug fraud must be prosecuted by upholding patient rights and the presumption of innocence

National Unity Party (UBP) Group Deputy Chairman Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, made evaluations on the prescription emphasis, which has been on the agenda of the public in recent days.

Answering questions in a TV program Ahmet Savaşan, He said that he has been following the so-called “drug corruption or prescription corruption” as closely as possible, noting that the incident or problem is multifaceted.

Savaşan said, “The first issue is the meticulous protection of public money. If there are those who have made unfair gains by abusing their authority, there are authorities in charge of revealing, investigating and bringing them to justice, and as far as we can see, they are at work and taking the necessary steps.”.

“Another problem is related to access to doctors and medicines, that is, our health system,” Dr. Savaşan said:

“We all have to accept that we have not yet overcome this problem. The health system is not reaching our elderly and chronically ill patients fast enough. They also have difficulties in accessing doctors and medicines. In this situation, everyone is trying to find a practical way to protect their health. In the meantime, some irregularities may have occurred. These should be seen as inadequacies of the system and should not be considered as ‘corruption’. If we fail to make this distinction, in the coming days we will be in a very difficult situation against people who will suffer because they cannot access doctors and medicines, and perhaps we will witness incidents that will hurt our conscience.”

“EVERYONE IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY”

Stating that the last point on the subject is “legal”, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, He drew attention to the principle that “Everyone is innocent until proven guilty and convicted”.

Prof. Dr. Savaşan said, “We need to approach this whole incident without forgetting this principle, protecting innocent people as much as possible. The matter has been referred to the judiciary. We need to respect this and act responsibly. No matter what position we hold, we must act and speak with the awareness of this responsibility. This is simply a humanitarian obligation.”.

“NECESSARY STEPS WILL BE TAKEN FOR THE MEDICATION TRACKING SYSTEM”

Emphasizing that the drug tracking system should be established as soon as possible in order to solve the problems at the root, Dr. Savaşan explained that both the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health have shown the necessary sensitivity to the issue and that such problems will be prevented by taking result-oriented steps as soon as possible.
