UBP MP Ahmet Savaşan visited health institutions on the occasion of March 14th Medical Day. Savaşan pointed out that the health system has once again shown how important it is and said, “We all have a responsibility to renew the health system.”.
On March 14th Medical Day, President of the World Health Tourism Council, MP Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, who visited health institutions and met with doctors and health workers, pointed out that the disasters and negativities have once again shown how important the health system is and pointed out that the health system in our country should be renewed as soon as possible to respond to the needs without delay, to improve the rights of employees and patients and not to leave anyone under suspicion.
On the occasion of March 14th Medical Day, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, together with the Board Members of the Cyprus Health Tourism Council, Dr. Hayat İzel, President of the Private Hospitals Association, Dr. Remzi Gardiyanoğlu, President of the Freelance Hospitals Association and Dr. Savaş Özyiğit, President of the IVF Operators Association, visited health institutions and congratulated health workers. In his speeches during the visits, Savaşan reminded that the Parliament increased the number of doctors and other healthcare professionals in hospitals with the amendments made to the Inpatient Treatment Institutions Law after many years, paved the way to end the problem of patient caregivers, which has been a bleeding wound for decades, and made it possible to strengthen emergency services and intensive care units.
Savaşan underlined that in order to ensure continuity in health services and to increase the quality, other necessary laws and regulations should be made and new hospitals should be commissioned as soon as possible. Stating that the government is aware of these needs and is working to take the necessary steps, Ahmet Savaşan said, “It is an inevitable need to do what is necessary as soon as possible. The most important task for this falls primarily to the relevant ministers and of course to us, the MPs. I think everyone is aware of their duties and I am working with the sector to help take the necessary steps as soon as possible.”.

WE MUST GIVE OUR PATIENTS THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE HOSPITAL AND PHYSICIAN!
Stating that the most important responsibility for the uninterrupted, effective and quality delivery of health services to the people of the country falls on the state and the duty falls on physicians and health workers, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan emphasized that the people of the country, physicians and health workers have been experiencing great problems due to the chronic problems of the health system for years. Pointing out that one of the most vital needs in the country is for patients to be able to choose hospitals and physicians and to receive uninterrupted quality healthcare services, Ahmet Savaşan said that regardless of which government is in office, the political institution has the responsibility to take the necessary steps in harmony to meet this need, even if it is overdue. We must give our patients the right to choose hospitals and physicians at the earliest opportunity.”.
RENEWING THE HEALTH SYSTEM IS OUR MOST IMPORTANT DUTY TO SOCIETY...
Reminding that the need for renewal and digitalization of the healthcare system is seen in the most painful way by looking at the recent problems, Savaşan pointed out that a new healthcare system that will protect and improve the rights of all healthcare professionals, including pharmacies, as well as patients, should be established and underlined that this is one of the most important duties of the state towards the society.

“Our people want to see a state that fulfills its responsibilities, as well as physicians and healthcare professionals who are well educated, who produce services under the best working conditions, who are satisfied with the services they produce, who respect their patients and who can look to the future with hope,” said Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, adding that “the state is responsible for all health services, whether they are provided directly by the public sector or obtained from the private sector. Gathering these services under one roof with the General Health Insurance will ensure that patients can access effective health care. We have a responsibility to sincerely complete the work initiated in this regard.”.
INCREASING PREVENTIVE HEALTH SERVICES WILL REDUCE TREATMENT COSTS FOR THE STATE AND PEOPLE...
Pointing out the importance of protecting the health of citizens before they get sick, Ahmet Savaşan emphasized that preventive services are not only decisive in saving lives but also important in reducing the health expenditures of the state. Reminding that the expansion of preventive health services is the responsibility of the state, Savaşan said, “If preventive health services are further increased, the treatment costs of the state and people will decrease, labor force losses will be prevented, social peace and welfare will increase significantly.”.

On March 14th Medical Day, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan also commemorated Dr. Fazıl Küçük, the leader of the Social Existence Struggle, and said, “While commemorating our leader Dr. Küçük, who has a different and indelible place in our hearts with his doctorate, populism, determination and devotion to struggle, on this important day, I sincerely celebrate the 14th of March Medical Day, while remembering with mercy the healthcare professionals who lost their lives in the line of duty or left us for other reasons, wishing health and peace to those who retired and those who continue to serve.”.
