Health Tourism Council President Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan published a message on the 7th death anniversary of Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş.
Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that Rauf Denktaş became not only a regional but also an international actor with the political role he assumed in the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and emphasized that Denktaş, who spent his political life with years of inter-communal negotiations, countless UN solution proposals, exile, and his private life with the pain of his parents, who he lost at a young age, the pain of his children and health problems, suppressed all the pain he experienced with his belief in his cause.
Klerides: “The main goal of Greek Cypriots is for Cyprus to become a Greek Cypriot state”
Stating that Denktaş has always expressed that the Greeks see the Cyprus problem as a matter of getting rid of the 1960 Treaties and guarantees, which arose from the love of Enosis and prevented Enosis, as clearly stated in the Akritas Plan, Savaşan said that President Akıncı's speech today included the statements written by former Greek Cypriot leader Glafkos Klerides in his book “My Testimony”: “The main goal of the Greek Cypriots was to make Cyprus a Greek Cypriot state and to protect the Turkish Cypriots as a minority. The main concern of the Turkish Cypriots was to eliminate such efforts and to maintain the concept of partnership between the two communities created by the Zurich Agreement.” He emphasized that the struggle of Denktaş and the rightness of what he defended once again showed the whole country and the world.
If Denktaş's struggle continues, there will be peace in the region...
Stating that Denktaş defended the rights, equality and freedom cause of the Turkish Cypriot People with great devotion in unity of thought and heart with Motherland Turkey, Savaşan expressed his belief that if the struggle continues in the way Rauf Raif Denktaş pointed out, the island can become an island of peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
Ahmet Savaşan stated that the just cause of the Turkish Cypriot People, Rauf R. Denktaş with Dr. Fazıl Küçük, should be a guide in reaching a fair, comprehensive and sustainable solution on the island and becoming a real tourism island by dominating peace and stability in the region and said, “We commemorate the late Denktaş with deep sorrow and longing and bow with respect in front of his cherished memory.”.
