UBP Secretary General Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, in his message published on November 10, commemorated the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with respect, gratitude and longing on the anniversary of his passing away.
In his message, Savaşan said, “For the Turkish Cypriot people, Atatürk's principles are the guide of our struggle and the Republic of Turkey, which he founded, is the greatest guarantee of our existence.”.
Pointing out that Atatürk was not only the savior of a nation but also the symbol of the ideals of freedom, sovereignty and modernity, Savaşan emphasized that Atatürk's understanding of “Peace at home, peace in the world” and the vision he put forward with the words “Sovereignty belongs to the nation unconditionally” are also alive in the fundamental values of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus today.
Stating that Atatürk's ideas and struggle will always continue to guide the Turkish Cypriot people, Savaşan said, “In his footsteps, we will continue to work for the future of our Republic and our people.”.
