UBP FMK Member Savaşan emphasized that Southern Cyprus could not foresee Turkey's activities and said, “If the Greek does it or has it done; the Turk also does it or has it done!”.

National Unity Party (UBP) FMC Member Ahmet Savaşan In a television program he attended, he emphasized that the problems in the Eastern Mediterranean were caused by the Greek Cypriot side, which parceled the seas and started to search for natural gas and signed unilateral agreements excluding the Turkish Cypriot People.

“THE RUM SIDE DID NOT CALCULATE WHAT TURKEY COULD DO...”

Pointing out that the Greek Cypriot side's calculations to confine Turkey to its own territorial waters on the one hand and to keep the Turkish Cypriots away from a very important resource on the other hand, with the support of the European Union, France and the United States, will not achieve their goal thanks to Turkey's rightful, determined and steps taken in accordance with international rules. Ahmet Savaşan, “The Greek Cypriot side has acted without calculating what Turkey can do. This is the reason for the tension around us today.”.

“THE ATTITUDE OF SOUTH CYPRUS HAS MADE TURKEY THE OWNER OF MORE THAN ONE SHIP...”

Pointing out that Turkey did not even have a ship to conduct seismic research, let alone a drilling ship, when Southern Cyprus unilaterally launched activities in the region Ahmet Savaşan, He said that with the spoiled attitude of Southern Cyprus and the incalculable steps it has taken, it has made Turkey the owner of more than one drilling and research vessel.

“THE THREAT COMES FROM THE GREEKS...”

Pointing out that although the threat to both us and Turkey comes from the Greeks, the Greeks are now making a fuss that “Turkey is threatening us”, Savaşan said, ”It is obvious that Turkey has built many warships and unmanned aerial vehicles with its own technology for its security. Turkey has done this to protect its own security and rights. Of course, Turkey will not refrain from using these elements when it comes to our security and rights.".

“THERE IS NO POWER THAT CAN DETER TURKEY!”

Noting that it is unacceptable for the Greeks to attempt to declare the sea their own without any agreement, he said Ahmet Savaşan, “Anyone can conduct research in these sea areas outside territorial waters. If the Greeks do it or have it done, the Turks can do it or have it done. There is no rule of law to prevent this. If Turkey wants to do it or have it done, there is no military power to deter it.”.

“ERDOĞAN SAYS EVERY DAY THAT A TABLE SHOULD BE SET...”

Pointing to the need to sit around a table and talk in detail and comprehensively in order to solve the problems, Savaşan reminded that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan makes this call every day.

“GREECE DOES NOT WANT A COMPREHENSIVE NEGOTIATION...”

Pointing out that the EU, which has been silent for a long time, has finally made a statement through the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security and that a comprehensive negotiation should be held in this statement, Savaşan said, “The EU must convince Greece, its own member, for this. Greece does not want a comprehensive negotiation. Their own representatives say this. They say ‘Turkey is trying to get us to sit at a table where everything will be discussed’. What is bad about this?” he said.

“AKINCI TRIES NOT TO TAKE SIDES...”

Savaşan drew attention to the need for the Turkish Cypriot people to be involved in this process and criticized President Akıncı's “attitude of trying not to take sides”.

Savaşan said, “President Akıncı does not speak much on this issue. When he does, he makes wishes and wishes as if he were an impartial observer. The issue is clear. The Greek-Greek side is in an aggressive attitude. The President of the TRNC should condemn this attitude and express that the Turkish Cypriot People are with Turkey and should make effective initiatives before foreign representatives.” Savaşan pointed out that it is very clear that the fate of the Turkish Cypriot People is united with Turkey and that no benefit can be gained by trying to appear “neutral” in this process, if anything, the support of the Turkish public opinion will be lost.
