UBP MP Ahmet Savaşan, in his message published on the occasion of August 30 Victory Day, said, “The struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people for existence is similar to the War of Independence.”.

National Unity Party (UBP) Nicosia MP Ahmet Savaşan, published a message on the 100th anniversary of August 30th Victory Day.

In his message, Savaşan emphasized that the August 30 Victory won by the Turkish Nation, which is fond of its freedom, independence, the will and will to live with its head held high and with dignity, is a guide not only for the Turkish Nation but also for all nations struggling for freedom and independence.

Savaşan said, “Despite all kinds of poverty and adverse conditions, August 30 is an epic of heroism in which the great Turkish Nation, together with its army, once again wrote its name with honor in the history of humanity. This epic is an indication of the might and heroism of the Turkish soldier who protects his nation and homeland lands to the last drop of his blood with his love of homeland and superior courage; it is also a sacred badge of the unity and integrity of the Turkish Nation.”.

Noting that the Republic of Turkey is taking firm steps towards becoming a freer and more modern country with its commitment to the ideal of ‘Sovereignty is unconditionally and unconditionally the nation’, Savaşan stated that the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people for existence and the War of Independence are similar.

Savaşan said, “The Turkish Cypriot people gained their independence through a similar struggle. Just when it was thought that everything was over, the resistance organized with determination has brought us to a stage where we are self-governing. The only difference in our struggle is the unlimited and unconditional support we received from the Republic of Turkey. This support is a sign that we are an integral part of the Turkish nation.”.

Stating that the changing world conditions are delaying the registration of the independence of the Turkish Cypriot people by the international community, Savaşan stated that he believes that this stage will definitely be reached thanks to the struggle that is being waged with faith and sacrifice and said, “On this honorable path, our faith is in the Turkish Cypriot people and our trust is in the support of the Turkish nation. We know this and we are taking firm steps towards the future with this awareness.”.

Savaşan commemorated Commander-in-Chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades in arms, martyrs and veterans with mercy, gratitude and appreciation.
