Near East Tourism and Travel Enterprises, which operates under the Near East University (NEU), recently participated in the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair (EMITT) at TUYAP Beylikdüzü in Istanbul with the participation of 2000 exhibitors from 40 countries and 30,000 tourism professionals.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University, Ahmet Savaşan, Near East Tourism and Travel Operations Manager, introduced the opportunities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the fields of “Fair, Congress, Incentive and Special Interest Tourism” and held various meetings with the sector professionals in order to present the TRNC as an alternative market to the tourism sector and explained the projects for 2005 and 2006.
Savaşan said that people from all civilizations and races, with different languages and religions, products and services in different sectors were exhibited collectively at the fair, where people related to certain subjects met and learned about their activities, and in this sense, the fair was productive.
Savaşan also said that an important event for Turkish Cypriot Tourism took place at EMITT 2005. In this context, Savaşan said that the TRNC Minister of Economy and Tourism Derviş K. Deniz, Turkish Airlines Deputy General Manager Fazlı Danışman, TRNC Ministry of Economy and Tourism Promotion and Marketing Department Director Mehmet Başel, KİTSAB, KİTOB and representatives of other tourism professional organizations came together and a meeting was held on increasing the flight opportunities of THY to Northern Cyprus in the coming summer and winter period and it was also agreed that all countries with potential, especially Germany and Austria, could reach Northern Cyprus at affordable prices.
