The International Congress on Herd Health and Management in Dairy Cattle Enterprises was hosted by Near East University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and organized by Near East Tourism Enterprises (Dorana Tourism) at Kaya Artemis Hotel with a great participation.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of Near East University Cyprus, the opening speeches of the congress, which was attended by many academicians and sector representatives as well as expert speakers from universities in Turkey and abroad, were made by Adem Aköl, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University and Prof. Dr. Ömer M. Esendal, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, while the opening presentation of the congress was made by Assist. Assoc. Prof. Osman Ergene, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Chairman of the Congress Organizing Committee. Hospital Board Member and General Manager of Tourism Enterprises Ahmet Savaşan and faculty members of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine also attended.

 

Akol; Congress creates a great opportunity for the development of the country's animal husbandry...

Aköl started his speech by summarizing the TRNC's education, health and touristic opportunities, and said that 25 years ago, Founding Rector Dr. Dr. Aköl was appointed as the Rector of the TRNC. Suat Günsel‘Aköl emphasized that health sciences constitute 5 of the 16 faculties of NEU, which has become the largest university in the country today, and explained the importance the university attaches to health sciences. In his speech, Aköl also pointed out that the purpose of NEU's establishment of the first and only Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the TRNC is not only to educate students in European norms, but also to ensure that veterinarians and breeders can easily access up-to-date information and methods through such international and national events. Finally, Aköl added that the congress created a great opportunity for the development of the country's animal husbandry.

Ergene; nearly five hundred people attended our congress

Emphasizing that nearly five hundred academicians, veterinarians and breeders from Turkey and Northern Cyprus as well as speakers and representatives from prominent countries such as the USA, Canada, Thailand, England, Spain and Austria attended the congress, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Vice Dean and Congress Organizing Committee Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman Ergene explained the importance of Herd Health and Management in Dairy Cattle Enterprises in his opening presentation.

 

There are over 700 breeders and nearly 60,000 dairy cattle in the TRNC...

Stating that there are over 700 breeders and nearly 60,000 dairy cattle in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ergene emphasized that the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Near East University, acting with a sense of responsibility, organized the congress in order to contribute to the development of this sector into a sustainable structure that can follow all current developments.

 

Scientific studies were rewarded with I-Pad

As a result of the competition and evaluation among the scientific presentations sent, Prof. Dr. Ayhan Baştan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arzu Fındık and Dr. İsfendiyar Darbaz were awarded with I-Pads. Big companies such as Hipra, Hasvet, Bayer, Bavet, Sanovel, Ar-En, Anadolu Hayvancılık and Serakıncı Ltd. from Northern Cyprus also attended the congress.
