Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, in his message published on the occasion of September 1st World Peace Day, emphasized that the political institution should first make peace dominant in its own people and country.

“The road to tourism is the road to peace, brotherhood and development,” said Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, underlining that the development of this sector, which is described as an industry, is important not only for the economy but also for world peace.

Tourism is the key to global peace...

Stating that tourism affects social and cultural life as well as economic returns, Savaşan emphasized that tourism, which facilitates the realization of social and humanitarian functions in the political field, is the key to global peace with its ability to unite peoples while ethnic, religious and economic conflicts increase in the world.

Tourism will continue to develop in the world and in our country...

Pointing out that the increase in tourism traffic will pave the way for the establishment of a sustainable communication bridge across the world, Savaşan stated that tourism will continue to develop in the world and in our country despite all the negativities experienced in the global arena.

The peaceful stance of the Turkish Cypriot side must be maintained...

Underlining that peace must first be established among our own people and sectors, Savaşan pointed out that there is an inevitable need to eliminate income inequalities in the country. Savaşan said, “The political institution must first make peace dominant in its own people and country. The priority need of our country is to develop the economy and increase the level of welfare. Of course, simultaneously, the Turkish Cypriot side should maintain its peaceful stance and on the other hand, it is necessary to push for a sustainable agreement on the island by bringing new ideas to the table that can be realized in the current conditions of Cyprus based on cooperation.”.

The Greek side is trying to start a process that has been exhausted...

Pointing out that the August 9 meeting did not give any signal that a result-oriented and timetabled process would be initiated, Savaşan said: “On the contrary, the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCASC), with the support of the UN Secretary General, tried to start a process that has not yielded results for forty years and has actually been exhausted”. Pointing out that the game being played should be seen, Savaşan pointed out that the policies of tension negatively affect tourism and celebrated the World Peace Day by expressing the hope that World Peace Day, one of the most important and meaningful days for the future of humanity, will be experienced in its true meaning and moved to the center of life.
