President of the World Health Tourism Council, MP Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, in his message published on the occasion of ‘December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities’, said, ”We must work side by side with people with disabilities to design solutions based on equal rights.”.

World Health Tourism Council (GHTC) President and MP Dr. Ahmet Savaşan published a message on the occasion of December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Dr. Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that disability should not be seen as a “patient problem” but as a democracy and human rights issue, and that it is necessary to find innovative solutions to build an accessible and egalitarian world for all.

In his message, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that the theme of the 2023 World Day of Persons with Disabilities is “to save and achieve sustainable development goals by acting together with persons with disabilities, for persons with disabilities” and emphasized that achieving sustainable development goals requires not leaving anyone behind, especially the 1.3 billion disabled people around the world.

“PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES SHOULD BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL LIFE”

Noting that people with disabilities worldwide face systematic discrimination and barriers that restrict their inclusion in all areas of society, Ahmet Savaşan pointed out that truly sustainable development for people with disabilities can only be possible by ensuring that they can actively participate in social, economic and political life, not only as beneficiaries.

“WE SUPPORT THE UN'S CALL FOR THE PARTICIPATION OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN ALL DECISION-MAKING PROCESSES”

”As the country holding the Presidency on behalf of the World Health Tourism Council, we support the UN's determination that people with disabilities should participate in all decision-making processes in line with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and in countries“ efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, from poverty eradication to health, education and climate action,” said Mr. Savaşan, adding, "On this important day, as the World Health Tourism Council, we invite the whole world to heed the UN's call to work side by side with people with disabilities to design and deliver solutions based on equal rights in every country and society.
