Commenting on the explosion that occurred in the ammunition depot in Çatalköy, Health Tourism Council World Vice President and Cyprus President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan emphasized that the statements and publications to be made on this issue should be made away from populism and in a way that does not cause unnecessary concern in order not to negatively affect the country's tourism.
Taking the necessary measures relieved our sector...
Underlining that tourism is a sector that is managed entirely with sensitive balances, Ahmet Savaşan reminded that Northern Cyprus closes its foreign trade deficit with tourism and higher education. Pointing out that the tourism sector is structurally extremely fragile and reacts negatively to every negative situation to the same extent, Dr. Ahmet Savaşan said, “It is our greatest consolation that there was no loss of life in the incident. The fact that Prime Minister Ersin Tatar and the state, government, military and civilian authorities took all necessary measures immediately and announced to the world that there was no security weakness in the country was extremely comforting for our people, tourists and our sector.”.
Tourism activities continue smoothly...
Expressing that they are pleased to see from the statements made by the authorities that the government will take the necessary steps together with the Peace and Security Forces Commands without delay in order to prevent such incidents from happening again, Savaşan said, “Considering the security problems experienced in the world, it is the duty and common responsibility of all of us to reiterate that Northern Cyprus, which is a valuable tourism destination in terms of tourism, history, culture and humanity, is an extremely safe country and to announce that tourism activities continue without any problems.”.
